C4 Picasso start; stop button not operating
Im Maurice Wildish living in Swan Hill 3585 australia i have a C 4 Citroen Picasso grand Petrol motor, beautiful car, but the start stop button is not working, there is no click when foot is applied to brake so everything is locked, the remotes will open and lock the car, the mirrors will not close when locked but the car will lock, i bought a new battery charge reading is 12.4 volts; The V I N is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff], I live 5 hrs from Melbourne ,I rang the dealers in Melbourne the reply was bringthe car to us so we can check out the hassles, but its not driveable, and to tow is like $2500.00 so not impressed with their reply and customer care.the car has only travelled 79800 kmh Thank you for assistance in this really stressful time warm regards Maurice Wildish

Hi and
You really need to have the car diagnosed with Diagbox or similar, is there a mobile mechanic near you who you could call? In the meantime have you checked all the fuses in both fuseboxes and ensured you have good earth strap connections from battery to chassis and chassis to engine?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Welcome along!
Presumably this is an auto? Does the press brake message stay on the screen when you try to start it? Are the brake lights working?

Oh the brake pedal foot switch can also cause this problem too, so get someone stand behind the car when you put your foot on the brake pedal tonse if the brake lights work.
Sometimes the car's body computer gets confused after a low-voltage event or a battery change. You can try a soft system reset to see if it forces the computers to wake up:
Make sure all doors are closed, the keys are out of the car, and leave the bonnet popped open.
Wait a full 5 minutes without touching anything so the car goes into "sleep mode".
Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 2 minutes.
Reconnect the battery terminal.
Wait 2 more minutes without touching any buttons or opening doors to let the computers boot up.
Open the driver's door, step on the brake, and try the start button.
If the reset doesn't work, don't pay for that massive tow to Melbourne. Call a local independent mechanic or mobile auto electrician in the Swan Hill area and tell them you suspect either a faulty BPGA module on top of the battery or a bad brake pedal switch. They will easily be able to verify this with a standard diagnostic scan tool right in your driveway.
Hope that helps , only know this as a neighbour had similar problems
