Some Local Peugeot News

Unread post by ozfrog »

I’m not sure where this should be posted, but as both items are about Peugeot, here’s as good a place, I think/hope.

First, some notoriety for the marque. In a small city not very far from me, a Peugeot driver is due to appear in court next week after failing to stop when directed by police who then had to give chase. He was subjected to a roadside breath test which allegedly returned a positive result. He was then taken to the local police station for a secondary breath test. That one allegedly returned a result of more than 8 times the legal limit!

I don’t think that this online publication always publishes the make of car that the driver was using, but it did this time!

The other bit of local Peugeot news caused quite some discussion, at least online. It probably did in person, too, but not where I live; there are not enough Peugeot fanatics in this part of the country.

An announcement was made last week that some people interpreted as saying Peugeot was pulling out of Australia. Some news outlets even reported that. But the reality is that the current importer is (finally, in my opinion) dropping Peugeot from their lineup of imported car brands. No date has been set for Stellantis to take over the importing of Peugeot. But as far as I can tell, there are a lot of details that have to be made.

It’s been interesting reading some of the things people say about Peugeot. They range from, “I learned to drive in my dad’s {203,403,404, etc} to Good bye and good riddance. Worst car I ever owned.”
Cheers,
Andrew
