I sense a bit of profiteering there!! SWMBO had hers done at the Main Dealer in May and it was £149 including a new valve on the test line!!

Had mine done at the garage where I bought the car for £50, he only charged for the gas.

Had my last C5 done a few years ago. £120. Lasted a month
Pror to that had a mobile bloke come and do both my C5 (not the same one) and my son's 306.
£100 for the pair of them.

I checked and around here, it's the going rate wherever you go... If it's doesn't last I won't be having it done again unless any leaks are easily resolved.

Speaking of resolved, with my GF now back home and OK, I could get on with Bluebell...

The crank oil seal replacement went very smoothly My rattle-gun made short work of the (tight) crank sprocket bolt and the seal flange did not even need my special puller to remove it..

The old seal came out easily using the old screw trick...

All cleaned up..

New seal in...

And my own patent method to torque up the crank bolt to 81 ft lbs

Sadly, it was not so good with the alternator... The new brushes have made no difference so it looks like the regulator module is unhappy I can get a new regulator from our German friends for a reasonable sum so I'll get one ordered in along with the cambelt kit and front discs and pads I need for my van...

Nice set up in the last photo Jim , once you get the other parts you need your all sorted then. You do a great job looking after your fave 2 little citroens

Good work Jim, bad luck on the alternator - nevermind it was worth a shot and looked as though it was the issue.

Is it a big jump from rectifier to full alternator? It'd get you refreshed bearings etc at the same time

It may be worth asking the company I got the MX3 alternator from in April. They were excellent as is the product: [email protected]

Indeed, Matt. Absolutely worth risking a fiver on a set of brushes And, at least I have a spare set now....

How often do you get to if you do show the cars at any shows? Plus if so , how do you go about it
