Tricky to make an unbiassed comment Matt. For me the yellow line is wrong without doubt but also for me the blue line is questionable. If there are no specific arrows on the road approaching the roundabout, then my general rule is left lane is turn left or straight on and right lane is turn right. Is it going through insurance ? If so they will make a judgement and I think the best you may get is knock for knock but time will tell
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

100% the fault lies with the driver of the yellow path (the other vehicle).
Here is why, based on standard UK roundabout rules (Highway Code Rule 186):
Incorrect Lane Discipline: The text explicitly states that the yellow line represents a vehicle "turning right in the left lane." At a standard roundabout, you should not use the left-hand lane to go all the way around to the right (the 3rd exit or later) unless road markings or signs explicitly direct you to do so.
Cutting Across Traffic: By attempting to take a right exit from the left lane, the yellow vehicle cut straight across the path of the blue vehicle, which was correctly using the inner lane to navigate around the roundabout.
The driver of the yellow vehicle effectively sideswiped or cut off the driver on the blue path by failing to maintain proper lane discipline.

I think you'll be okay on this as the blue line entered the roundabout in the right hand lane which normally means the third exit or more. Yellow line entered the roundabout in the left lane which usually means exit 1 and 2 or straight over. They shouldn't of carried on around the roundabout. Why don't people use common sense, if in doubt go around the roundabout in the inside lane till you figure out your exit!?

Thanks for replies folks.
It's two lanes onto roundabout and two lanes off for straight on. I've just managed to download my (newly installed) dash cam footage and captures a complete lack on any indication from Mr Taxi as he trundles around in lane 1.
No marking /arrows on the lanes on the approach, nor any signage approaching the roundabout: to indicate if either lane is e.g "left lane: left and straight on, right lane: right turn only" or anything to that effect.
Yellow line is undoubtedly wrong, my blue line is probably less clear cut but hopefully the above explains my reasoning for believing I'd done nothing wrong.

Taxi driver style says it all you havnt done anything wrong at all Matt its the other (-expletive removed-) , I always hang back in these type of roundabouts as you always will get an under take as you want to enter your carriage way , or as Ryan put it if in doubt go round again , You are not in the wrong at all . Even with dual carriageway layout he should of never come across you at all what the hell was the (-expletive removed-) thinking , hope your ok. Cars can be replaced but us as humans is a different thing .

I've notified my insurer, online description of the accident, the damage and details and straight away that's decided it'll be written off - given the speed of the system responses I don't believe any human being has been involved in the decision.
A friendly chap has rung me to enquire about all my lucrative injuries sustained and other legal things to get his teeth into but unfortunately I'm not pretending I've whiplash so he was a bit crestfallen.
I've also a message saying Copart will be in touch to take it easy and assess it, but a couple of lines down tells me to remove all personal belongings so that's looking very much a one-street of never see the car again

He could not understand any issue with using lane 1 to go 270° around the roundabout...Huskyxantia wrote: Yesterday, 20:48 Taxi driver style says it all you havnt done anything wrong at all Matt its the other (-expletive removed-) , I always hang back in these type of roundabouts as you always will get an under take as you want to enter your carriage way , or as a Ryan put it if in doubt go round again , You are not in the wrong at all .

So sorry to read that matt , cars being written off so fast now by insurance company's is a cop out in my opinion, I hope you do get a decent pay out the lack of understanding reflects lack of road knowledge on the other driver, mind you when there in the wrong they always blame who they hit , happend to me 10 yr ago on a nasty bend a yong lad went right across the front of me in my mk1 xantia took the front bumper off passenger wing inner wing battery hit the deck the passenger wheel was at 9 o'clock, he then came running over the me balling his big gob laying down the law about how it was my fault , so I said oh really you turned into a road without stopping going off one road into another no indication and doing 65 in a 30 and its my fault, he then went to swing for me which i blocked and swiped him with the back of my left hand to which a road traffic officer in an unmarked car grabbed my arm and said ok mate let's leave it there and go have a chat , I was ok the police said it was self defence, anyway this lads girlfriend was in the car with him she rang for her dad to come pick her up , when he arrived he came over and found me and said thanks for giving his daughters boyfriend a slap , he asked how fast he was going and the police said at least 65 and I said if he would of wings he'd of been flying , well this girls dad laid down the law to his daughter said that's it you are no longer in a relationship with that idiot he could of killed people tonight , he then tells me he was a magistrate , heres the best bit.. and said that the lad who had caused this accident was only in front of him 4 weeks before hand ! He took his daughter back to his car , went back over to the boy right up to his face and said stay away from my daughter or else. My car got written off , they did the old offer trick which we all know never accept as they do pay what you put your foot down on . I got 800 not much , but I only paid 300 for it and insurance only let me go 800 value, they tried a first offer of 150 which after I got up off the floor laughing i said no, I then said when you look at what its up for then feel free to ring me back . Next day they called and went 800. I said oh ok that will do .

Will be very sad to see the car go, will enquire about buy back but am not holding my breath.
Struggling to find many for sale that are a direct match on spec: 2016 308 SW in 2.0 HDi 6 speed manual, GT line trim.
2.0 HDi seems very rare and lots of EAT8 automatics.
Expecting a phonecall where they tell me it's worth £500....

If CoParts collecting it say goodbye to it! They won't do a complete inventory on the vehicle, cough spare tyre missing cough.....my coughs getting worse... Definitely not your fault buddy, at least no one was hurt.

Yes, I saw something recently they reminded the threshold was repairs more that 40% of car's value as trigger for right off.Huskyxantia wrote: Yesterday, 20:54 So sorry to read that matt , cars being written off so fast now by insurance company's is a cop out in my opinion, I hope you do get a decent pay out the lack of understanding reflects lack of road knowledge.
This is "Cat N" territory (none structural) to my eyes. Both front and rear doors open and close fine still, so A and B pillar are undisturbed. It's amazing it managed to peel off the door skin and tear it in half in one action! Very odd.
Another example of Mr Taxi's judgement - I had to stop him driving off with a newly acquired Magnetic Blue pedestrian jousting attachment - he did not see an reason that this probably should be removed before he drove away!

Okay, what's the badge, Dacia? I will say it maybe a good idea to get an agreed value on the vehicle when insuring it, mines agreed at £5k, hit me if you want!!

Around Lincoln there are many roundabouts with single lane carriageways which open to 2 lanes on the approach, 2 lanes around the roundabouts and 2 lanes out of the roundabouts and return back to single lanes so everyone has to merge. Also ones with 2 lanes all the way so no merging. The aim is to increase traffic flow. If going left use the left lanes, if going straight on you can use both lanes, if going right use the right lanes and everyone to use indicators. There are many people who use the right lanes quite fast when going straight on so they can overtake. Many of the roads have arrows on them to help.
To get an idea of your car's market value have a look on autotrader to find one similar. Also get an insurance quote through places like gocompare as they auto fill in the value which you can adjust if you want. It is going to be several thousand though and not hundreds. As an example for a 17 reg at £5195 2.0 hdi manual GT line in blue https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... product=HP
