308 2015 1.0 L FSH low miles engine noise video

Unread post by DICKY300 »

Hi.
My sons 308 has low mileage and has always been on the button.
Recently sounds lumpy.
But when i opened bonnet there seems to be a audible hum (and a ringing) which you can hear clearly sigh off when turned of at key.
Link to video .
Am i being paranoid . Is it just getting old ?
A second opinion from some one wpuld help . Ive heard and seen from posts there is some really good experience in here. Just looking for things to check or ask at garage .

Thanks

Sounds like one injector has or is failing , so the throttle body is working a bit more to compensate for this by way of the ecu adding more fuel or air or both, someone in here will hit the nail on the head , does the noise change when you rev it, have you got a diagnostic tool ? I know when injectors go they can change the sound of an engine make a petrol sound like a diesel ...

Sounds like its a bit low on oil too, also the throttle body's on these can get a bit gunked up and the butterfly inside , it's a flap that opens and closes, this can get sort of stuck and wont operate properly and cause this noise to happen to the engine , plus the wet belt when they degrade it can cause similar things too. Best thing is to get it diagnosed, find a friendly local mobile mechanic , dont do main dealer they will be so expensive, your end up getting rid of the car that way, plus ask the son nicely if his right foots been a bit heavy.. hope some of my theories help
