Just wondering what tyres the C5X owners have fitted, or if they've changed and noticed any difference/ improvement?
My shine+ was 74 reg, although was an early 2023 build. The tyres on it are marked 0723 which I presume means wk 7 of 2023. The tyres fitted are Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance, the first version. Just wondered if everyone else has the same faftory fitted too?
At the moment I've been looking around and want to upgrade so I have made a tenative post on Ebay trying to sell the old ones. No cracks, punctures, uneven wear or anything and look as good as brand new (probably 7mm) as the car has only done 4k miles and I'm always good on tyres. I put em on with a starting bid of £160, collection only.
I've done a bit of research and if I can sell the old ones at a decent price I want to upgrade to Michelin e.PRIMACY (205/55 R19 97V) XL S2 ACO. Its between these and the Primacy 5 but I think the former eges it as specifically developed for PHEV's.

I can't remember how to post pics, i took 4 for ebay, they just look like tyres and i havent cleaned them or anything.

Hi,
Our c5x(purchased earlier this year)which is a 2022, shine plus came with Michelin e primacy 205/55 r 19 97v. Car has done just over 20,000 miles. Tyres have lots of life left in them.
Interestingly the car was the one used to showcase the car for journalists.

Thanks for that, tried the drag option and it's really easy. I took these pics yesterday.
There was something about a 20p showing the min tread depth so I took the pics with that in the groove.

They look to have 3 mm tread depth left with the minimum 1½ mm so not many miles left, only a few thousand. New tyres have about 7 mm. I think you will struggle to sell them unless you include the wheels and the tyres are free. I would keep them for the next few months to wear them out and then buy the new ones.

No way, it's a lot more than that, perhaps it's the way the 20p leans in the grooves. I'm generally light on tyres as I try and accelerate slowly and brake as little as possible.
When I sold my Fiat 500x back in 2023 the tyres on that had 5mm on them after driving 19k miles and these definitely have more on them.

Probably best to measure the depth better as I just looked at the photos and measured a 20p to get an idea.

Noisy? poor grip?
My own experience of the Efficient Grip tyres (on a MK1 C4 and on a C5 X7 Tourer) is they seem fine, nothing made me seek to bin them off.

Paul C5 - Yeah I need to find a better way to measure the depth, obviosuly the 20p thing isnt working.....it certainly gave you the wrong impression. Finger in air I can't possibly see any of them being below 6mm....but I will confirm in due course and revert back.
MattBLancs - Not a daft question at all, fire away, and more than happy to answer. The C5X PHEV is in general an extremely refined car, the Aisin 8 speed auto unless pushed is really smooth, the transition from electric to petrol almost seamless, the shape is perhaps more aerodynamic than it looks and mirrors quite small so there isnt a lot of wind noise. This is also helped by the acoustic "double glazed" glass. So a lot of the time like all Electric cars in particular the noise comes from below.
Now I never really doubted the tyres because of the brand, but there's one thing different to your tyres I presume, they are XL with stiffened sidewalls...this is because they need to carry the PHEV weight, and it makes the cars less compliant over low speed bumps. Now you might say well they'll all be XL for that car and you'd be right, but the tech has moved on a lot over time, and I was surprised to know the tyre actually was released back in 2013, it surprised me. I think the newer V2 came out in 2019. So the tyres came out really before electric cars were really a thing.
These days the science has improved and some of the tyres are designed specifically with electric cars in mind. The E.Primacy is an example, and whats good about these is they also include a foam insert to quieten the resonance inside the tyre and are supposed to be more accommodating over bumps. A quick AI search with detail comparing old and new suggests the difference will be markedly better. The issue I have at the moment is on anything but smooth tarmac, a lot of noise is thrown up.
I'll be keeping the car for a few years yet, dont do a lot of miles and I think if I can swap and it ends up costing me less than £100 per year over that time for a marked improvement then it'd be money well spent. There is nothing "wrong" with the tyres I have I just think there's better options around for me....and selling mine, hopefully at around 1/3 of the new price for tyres which are around 75%+ new hopefully should appeal to somebody.

Our Cactus has been on Efficient Grip tyres from new. Now on about 85k miles, on its third set of fronts and second set of rears. Fronts give about 30k miles and rears about 60k miles. I do not use the car but those who do have never said anything against the tyres. As you note above, these are not XL tyres so may well be a lot different to yours.
I use a tyre tread gauge to check depth but without one a rod/bit of wire could be used to measure the depth along with a ruler or tape measure.
When looking at tyres they have a decibel rating to try to help choose quieter ones. I have found ones with large gaps between treads give more noise when buying new but it could be the old worn ones seemed quieter as the gaps had worn down. Never had slicks but maybe they would be quiet.
