A bigger splash is on BBC iPlayer for another 28 days. A Mehari appears early on and intermittently throughout. Perfect example, mismatched wheels, tatty canopy, full of stuff. Remarkably the occupants, having driven around in sandy hot and at one point deluged Sicily, always emerge clean and dry.

I thought I'd mark the anniversary of the last post in this seemingly "quiet" topic with 2 recent sightings.

First is the film Koln 75, the story of an inexperienced music producer making the now renowned Keith Jarrett Cologne concert happen. She and her brother drive around town in a powder blue Dyane and Keith Jarrett makes the journey from Switzerland to Cologne in a beige Renault 4.

The second is a bit of an annoyance. Apple TV, never short of money and normally fastidious with period detail, have made a spin off from the initially excellent For all Mankind. The spin off is Star City, Russian space effort, and in 1973 a female Cosmonaut is taken in a Zil limosine to a reception in Paris. In a couple of street shots we see a red and white 2 CV Dolly. in 1973....really? 12 years too soon.

A bit like in a scene where a scruffy old Jag, missing a headlight, is motoring along what was supposedly the M6 (I think) in the film 'Withnail and I'... The scene was filmed on a yet to be opened stretch of the M25. That was proved beyond doubt by the brief appearance of a big blue sign confirming it!
