Electric folding mirror retrofit

Unread post by gekovacs »

Hello Everyone! Thank you for accepting me as a member! :)

First of all, I know that strictly speaking I am an outsider here, but I have an issue with a PSA group sister car, and thought that you kind folk could help me out.

My wife has a red '19 Grandland X and she asked me to retrofit electric folding mirrors to the car. I have already done this successfully a few years ago with my Alfa Romeo 159 and I am an experienced DIY mechanic. I managed to buy mirrors, window switch, and door control unit, wiring loom from a crashed car with folding mirror feature. My problem is that I cannot find anything on the internet regarding the logic used to set up the hardware. With the Alfa I had no such issues, everything can be found online. Alfa uses a door control unit in every door, which made the upgrade extremely straightforward: replace mirror, replace door control unit, replace switch in driver door.

My issue is that I do not know where the door control module is located in the vehicle. They are not in the doors, that is for sure. :) I also tried looking at the sister vehicles for guidance but sadly no luck there either, hence this topic. :)

I would like to ask for your help to set up the new hardware. Where is the door control unit?

Thank You very much!

I note that you have also posted onto the Granland Forum which I believe is a much better place for you to get help. We have adopted a policy of sticking to the French brands following Stellantis takeovers and hence cannot offer any assistence from the Admin team. You may get a response from a member but I suspect your post on the Grandland Forum will bear more fruit!! https://www.grandlandforums.co.uk/viewt ... =11&t=1970 :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Hello! Would it change anything if I were to replace the vehicle from Grandland to 5008 mk2 or 3008 mk2? They all share the same parts in question.
