Citroen C4 grand picasso MK2 engine light and eco off fault

Unread post by Hm26 »

Hi, I have a Citroen C4 grand picasso MK2 20141.6 diesel semi auto and I have an issue withe the engine to repair warning and eco off, previously used diagnostic tool and there was a few faults such as the egr valve and injector which was inspected and replaced and then I coded the injector etc all went good cleared all the codes etc. When I had the car diagnosed a little while after there was a few codes but they managed to clear all the codes in which we scanned it again and there was no fault codes but the engine to repair warning and eco off is still there , heard people have been having issues putting on the eco mode due to the battery being weak but I did test the battery it seemed fine it was 14.9v when car was started and not started about 12.6v as the battery has to be 80 percent or more for eco mode to work. I did try a bsi reset as well but it didn't change anything. So I'm wondering what could I do in order to get rid of the lights . The engine runs smoothly and the mechanic checked it out too and he said there isn't a issue at all. I rarely drive it and only really drive in the city only 40500 miles on the clock. Sorry it's a little long lol. Thanks

Do you ever take it for a run on a motorway where you can keep up to speed of about 60 for about 20 minutes? This is to give the particle filter a chance to regenerate.

How many miles has the vehicle done in your ownership?

Thanks for your reply,Rarely tbh maybe like once in 2 months and I only really used the car like once in 2 weeks but I do start it up every week. I've had the car for about 7 years and I do roughly 2 to 3000 mileage annually so around maybe like did 10,000 miles on it I think. I did drive it up the motorway a week back but nothing changed.

Is the engine to repair you mention the spanner symbol ? If so and a mileage is given it is telling you the miles to the next service or if overdue how many since it was due. If the service spanner this is cleared by holding in a button on the dash, turning the ignition so the dash lights up and once it counts down to =0 let go of the button and you can then start the engine - at least this is how our cars are reset. It will be in the handbook.

Is the eco off you mention related to the auto gear box or is it the one when the engine is not running which turns off some things like the radio to protect the battery and the eco light turns off as the engine is running ?

Starting it up but not running it will just flatten the battery.

Thanks for the reply. Yh it's basically shows the engine to repair message on the infotainment screen message and then shows spanner and no engine light. Cheers will try and take the service spanner off.

Basically the start stop one yh auto gearbox one. No nothing comes off when the eco off sign in red is on the dash.

Yh your right

I wondered that as well.

Yeah?

It probably needs a scan with Diagbox or equivalent; if the engine fault warning comes on, then there should be a fault of some sort showing!

I recently had a problem with my 3008 with the DPF additive tank - I got Engine fault warning, but no engine management light.
