The main reason is it can never get the last ~20 litres from the tank - I'd previously replaced the sender with no change, so it must be the tank itself. In fact when I drained the removed tank completely last night and put the sender in, it still read as 1/4 full. Witht he sender out it correctly shows as empty.
The second reason is it looks like I've got a bad case of diesel bug.
Anyway, the tank I got out of a 2003 1.9D DW8 has some slight differences, and I'm wondering if I should care:
1.9 D on the left, 1.9 TD on the right
- My original tank has two outlets on the top, one that goes to the top of the filler neck and another that goes somewhere else up there. A a catch can? On the DW8 tank, there is a nozzle but it's evidently not had a hose on it
- The 1.9TD tank has a metal heat shield on the side (it's alongside the exhaust), but the 1.9D one doesn't
Do I need to care about these differences? Do I need to bodge the thinner pipe onto that outlet, and a heat shield for the exhaust?
