9HR (DV6C) timing belt confusion

Unread post by Norrbjorn »

About to do the rubber band procedure on my 2011 508. It has the 9HR lump, a DV6C mated to the MCP box.

I took a quote for the parts at the dealers, but wasn't entirely impressed by the pricing. They did advice me though, that the crank pinion should be changed. I'm pretty sure the car has this done at a recall about ten years ago, but it's a 50€ part so I don't mind replacing it.

Anyway, Peugeot quoted me a "1684891780". As I understand it, there are several revisions to this kit and my car is quite close to the crossover. My ORGA is 12679.

I ordered an SKF VKMC 03316, and the pinion 98 107 010 80. Would anybody be able to confirm wether the SKF bits are the right or wrong ones?

Also, what is the difference between the different kits available, out of curiosity?

Have a look at the compatibility charts on this website and you should be able to confirm the timing belt kit: :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Thanks! Quite a nifty site, that.
Well it does confirm that the kit I got is from ORGA 12735 and onwards, so not the right one for my 12679.
Weird thing is, when I enter my vin at automotive.skf.com, it lists VKMC 3316 and VKMC 3315 for my car. Based on the ORGA, I should go with the 3315. And that says "replaced by 3316".

Maybe they are interchangeable. But I'm reluctant to tear it down only to realize I have the wrong parts. Maybe I'll have to admit defeat and pay the dealership tax after all :)
