Typical, images in reverse order! Will sort in a bit.
  • pads definitely not new
Surprise not an advisory that last MOT, as you can gauge the outer pad thickness looking through the wheel spoke gaps.

Right rear outer pad (left of image) noticeably more worn than right rear inner pad.
But obviously a million miles from what the new one looks like. :-D

Metal to metal had just begun to happen, hence the (actually pretty slight!) noise that had just started.

Right rear brake disc now I've got the caliper removed and can measure properly is 10.6 millimeters thick.

I can find online that the new 268 millimeter diameter disc thickness is 12 millimeters just trying to find out the minimum.
I know I'll check Haynes..

Ah, they are completely oblivious to anything other than the 249 mm rear disk it seems!

10mm seems to be the minimum, so will seek out some new disks.

It seems I didn't get the memo: today is very definitely a "one step forward, two steps back" day it seems.

There's a small amount of surface rust, I'll just clean it up and get some paint on ready for the MOT.....

Hmm, that doesn't look clever.

I'll give it a gentle poke with a screwdriver...

Hence:

Rumbling belly has stopped play, and the Great British summertime also may interrupt play too. Bloody weather.

CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) work completed and transferred to some Zintec.

Got a bit more grinding/ cutting there, Matt! Always gets worse when you start poking it...

Looks like it might need a new trailing arm bush as well?

Yep, on with a second piece for bottom surface of the sill.

Weather getting in the way though!

Indeed, will likely see what MOT man makes of it (as looked similar last year from memory) and need to research the practicalities of changing it (don't current have a press)

Thanks Husky.

Weather seems less as thought I'm going to get another dry spell today, so will pack up and call it a day.

New brake disks hopefully here by Tuesday so all systems go next weekend to get it finished + brake swap done.
