Expert Mk3 Steering Wheel

Unread post by Tr7v8 »

OK, my recently bought 2021 Expert Van has a steering wheel that looks like it has been attacked by a rabid dog.
I bought a leather bound wheel from EBay and took van an wheel to my friendly mechanic.
He found the wheel and the van are incompatible. Obvious once pointed out the airbags are different shapes D'oh!
The fitted wheel is 98088708ZD I can find these one the Bay of E site but none appear to be leather. Is there an equivalent wheel that I can buy second hand with or without a matching airbag?
Is there an online Parts number book I can search online?
Thanks for any help?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

No airbag so illegal at MOT time. Not even sure it would fit anyway, but thanks.

A quick search comes up with companies that can refurbish steering wheels so something to consider. As an example but you would need to contact them to get an idea of cost. https://ttw-autotrim.co.uk/steering-wheel-re-trimming/

There are various steering wheel gloves you stitch on leather options. This is where I really miss my late father who passed away in 1987. He'd have taken that option.
Just ordered a 208 leather wheel off of ebay as its only £15 and at least the airbag is the right shape. If that option doesn't work then plan B is a kit from E Bay/Aliexpress/Temu of a stitch on one.

One of the steering wheel refurbers is Royal, had an MX5 and they do lots of their wheels also Porsches which I have had in the past. There is also a local trimmer here in Chatham, I have used and he is good.
