2016 DS 5 - Sudden loss of power

Unread post by christian825 »

Hello all, it's my first post here :) I'm a new owner of DS 5, maybe 3-4 weeks since the car has been with me and I’m looking for advice regarding my 2016 DS 5 2.0 BlueHDi.

Basically, after I bought it I made sure to replace the timing belt, water pump, etc as well as general servicing like changing filters, oil, brake pads.

Today was my first "long" drive, outside of the city and I encountered an issue, the car now is in the official DS workshop but just for my sanity I wanted to ask you if anybody here has encountered the same issue or has any advice.

So, while I was driving the car suddenly lost power, pressing the accelerator did absolutely nothing, no immediate dashboard warning messages appeared, nothing... the car just couldn't accelerate.
After stopping I tried to start the car 2-3 times but with no success - the starter cranks.

Any ideas or similar experiences would really help.

Thank you...

That sounds rather like fuel starvation to me, did you have plenty in the tank? When you did the servicing did you replace the diesel filter and if so did you bleed it through fully? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Thank you for the answer.

I had fuel for around 100 kms in the tank, no signals on the dashboard for the fuel level being low. The servicing was done in an official DS workshop, so I am hoping they did everything correctly in regards to the bleeding. During the servicing the following filters were changed: oil filter, air filter, fuel filter and cabin filter. They did not mention they have changed the diesel filter altough I requested everything to be serviced...

The diesel filter would have been described as the fuel filter.

100 km is probably only about 6 litres of diesel, whilst not likely to be the fault it is a bit low and risks the dregs in the tank being pumped through the fuel system.

Thank you for the answers! I will write a follow up after I hear back from the DS workshop this week.

Update: Broken/faulty CMP sensor.

Hello again... further update: After more investigation, the workshop told me that the reason is not the sensor but instead a broken rocker arm... If anyone is more familiar, could this be in relation to the service being done to the timing belt and the other parts around it?
