The elastic is unlikely to survive for long enough.

It sounds crazy to me!! One: any form of adhesive near the sensor sockets is liable to result in trouble when you try to refit the sensors Two: It is highly unlikely that you will get a decent seal and you'll have acid all over the place. Three: If you must pursue this method instead of finding a container to do the job properly, then find bolts that will screw exactly into the sockets and fit them with fibre/silicon washers and do them tight. Personally I think it is the wrong way to go about it, (but what do I know? I've only done it successfully 4 times :-D), as you will not have the agitation freedom provided by submerging the DPF. :)

Looking around our house for a large container that could be used it includes our kitchen bin, the recently delivered food recycling bin, a large bucket, the wheelie bins. All could be LDPE or PP and resistant to hydrochloric acid.

I would go as far as to say that the manhandling and agitation of the DPF is very important in making the acid get to as far into the deposits as possible.

appreciate the concerns but i think when rather well, all holes sealed and stood for 45 mins the glue gun worked and they just popped off when i rinsed the dpf until clear water came out every hole

Ok ive cleaned this again today this time agitating the dpf every 10 minutes. Its all back together , i noticed it starting much quicker, lots of black soot came out exhaust, im thinking it needs a good run, my question, do i need diagnostic to remove the last errors due to the previously blocked dpf? Like diagbox?

Overall it's best to go through the process of clearing faults and to tell the car it had a new DPF fitted, or you will get faults at a later date claiming the DPF is end of life.
