I can't disagree with anything said here. And a reason for me to avoid driving in Wales (and spending money there) wherever possible.

20mph limit rant
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

I have to agree Paul, but I can't help thinking there is a very similar pattern to most policy activity, but since that is a political subject it is against Forum rules to further discuss it here!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: 20mph limit rant
Here is my opinion (from in Wales)
Having lived through the variring speed limits everywhere, then the 20mph everywhere and now they almost sensible speed limits.
What we have now makes 90% sense, yes there are a few roads that still have the wrong limits, but quite a few before the changes did too, so its even(ish - in favour of now).
Benefits of the 20mph limit are, it's easier and safer when pulling out from a junction, when crossing the road, when cycling and to spot that idiot who didn't look before stepping off the path. Also, I live close to a 30mph road and in general they are slower & quieter.
Before the changes, 35mph in a 30, now its 30 in a "new" 30, and less than 25mph in the 20's.
Only real gripe iis electrics bikes, scooters & pedal bikes do not bother!

Re: 20mph limit rant
I'd often come across 30 KM/H speed limits (Kilometres !!) in the backwoods of German towns and villages and thought nothing of it - it just seemed right, but there's plenty of 20 MPH places in towns and villages in the UK where it seems excessively slow..... and I genuinely don't know why it would seem that way.
