Camshaft Bearing cap

Unread post by Pasi80 »

Hi.
Anybody knows where I could order camshaft caps (camshaft bearing cap).

I have Citroen C3 1.2 (81 kwh) 2018.
Engine code: EB2DT, HNZ/HN01

In the image there is a three camshaft cap on the row.

I'm not sure about PSA engines with this but on many engines including my Kawasakis the cam caps are 'line-bored' in the factory fitted to the cylinderhead so they are unique to the head. I'm guessing this is the case because they are stamped 1, 2 and 3 to make sure they are refitted in the correct place. If you do find some you need to confirm the clearance to the cam with plastigauge and make sure it's in spec.

Yes, I think you are right.

2 of 6 camshaft cap are broken
What does this mean?

1. I buy new camshaft bearing caps and them will be machined grind, if it is possible?

2. I need to buy 1 x new camshaft (does it includes new camshaft bearing caps). These need to machined grind also (or if it is not possible, I will install them and let see what happend)?

3. If one camshaft bearing broken the engine is impossible to repair. I don't like this option.

4. Any other option 😅.. I dont want to throw my engine to carbage can because I need to repair camshaft bearing caps and valves.

Thanks for all the help

First thing is why did they break/wear? Oil starvation?. The only good way of repairing this is with a known good cylinder head with original cam caps but the reason of the failure needs to be confirmed first.

Long story short!

Crankshaft pulley bolt loosen -> timing belt not sync with crankshaft anymore and pistons hit valves etc.

And this case is going to court (perhaps).

So the engine is removed and open up ---> the upper body of engine (valves, camshaft bearing cap need to change, etc.) Nothing really big, but it need a lot of work... Piston and the lower body of engine is fine.

That is short story. Do not ask more about it 😅.. ratherwise need a solution those camshaft bearing caps.

Valves guides aswell are possibly knackered so a recon head in my opinion, cheaper than a repair unless you have a machine shop
