Irratic Oil Level on dashboard

Unread post by Mickey_London »

Hi, new here, be gentle
On my 2019 Relay 2.2 I keep getting a Warning Triangle on the dashboard
Now....
If I switch off the ignition and wiggle the wire going to the Oil Pressure and Temperature sensor, then switch on the ignition I get the Oil Level with the dots appear and the warning triangle then goes out like normal.
Then after a couple of start ups the triangle stays on again, so under I go and wiggle the wires :-D

This happens all the time. Anyone else had this issue.

Thanks for any reply

You need to get the car read for error codes (DTCs) with a high end code reader, preferably Diagbox. This will give a better idea of what might be wrong.

Hi Paul
Thanks for the reply
I have had it scanned with an AutoLink Autel scanner and Konnwei scanner, not sure how good they are but look expensive haha
It is not throwing up any codes

You should check the oil level manually. The fact that you wave the wire and then change the status means that you have a problem with the connector. Probably the connector is dirty or rusted.

The oil level is fine on the dipstick
Just wondered why when I move the wire to the oil pressure switch it then shows the oil level on the dash and the warning triangle goes out. The oil level sensor, I beleive, is on the otherside of the engine, can't see how they would be connected.

Anyway, I have some electrical contact cleaner coming today, see if that works
These modern cars do funny things I suppose haha

Thanks for all replies
Appreciated
