0w30 or 5w30
I own a 2020 2.0HDI blue dispatch and its time to do a service on it, From what I can gather its a DW10FE AHK and the recommended oil is a 0w30, the chart on this site doesn't list 5w30 as an option. But it seems awfully thin to me, I've been using 5w30 in the 1.6 HDI's for years with zero problems, is there any reason to use a 0w30 ahead of a 5w30. I thought the main reason for going with ultra thin oils was just for efficiency, if that's the only reason then I'd rather use the 5, are there any downsides to it?

I would check with a dealer for the latest spec for your engine since they do change based on experience. The chart on here is not up to date so may not be correct. In the oil viscosity, the first value is when cold and the second when hot so 0w30 and 5w30 should be the same when hot.

You are right Peter the main difference is in efficiency, as part of the drive to meet Euro standards and it is believed among many that you end up paying for the small increase in efficiency with a small increase in engine wear when the motor is cold. I'd be happy to use 5 -30 unless I lived above the arctic circle!! ONLY MY OPINIION
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

That's how I figured it, I was watching an engine teardown on a youtube channel (cant remember the channel or engine type) and it was basically destroyed with relatively low mileage, chain stretched, guides all busted, the usual sort of stuff and one of the comments said something along then lines of "this is what happens when we use 0w-30" Which got me thinking. I've ordered some 5W now anyway, think its the right choice.mickthemaverick wrote: 23 May 2026, 12:29 You are right Peter the main difference is in efficiency, as part of the drive to meet Euro standards and it is believed among many that you end up paying for the small increase in efficiency with a small increase in engine wear when the motor is cold. Re: 0w30 or 5w30
It's important to order the correct PSA/Stellantis specification oil whether it's for 0W30 or 5W30. If I were to decide to NOT put 0W30 B71 2312 oil into our 308 and go for 5W30 instead I would make sure it is an oil to Stellantis FPW9.55535/03 specification and NOT the earlier B71 2290 one. Just my opinion.

Re: 0w30 or 5w30
I have the same engine and have gone with the 55535/03 5w30. I think they updated the oil spec on a lot of engines to match the 1.5s after the chain problems. I think there is a technical bulletin about it somewhere. It's not cheap though!
