Hi, I have the following issue on my Citroen C4 1.6 HDi year 2008 with 6 speed piloted gearbox (CFC300P ECU). The car is 210000 km and I'm not sure if the clutch has been replaced yet.
The issue is that the car takes a lot of time to release the clutch when changing gears. So if I'm driving in "automatic" you can notice the engine rev up as soon as it disengage the current gear and engaged the next one. This can be "mitigated" if I drive in "manual" mode and I release the accelerator before I change the speed, then I wait until the next speed is engaged and accelerate again (the whole process takes 2-3 seconds).
I connected the Diaxbox and I had the P0868 error, so I replaced the pressure accumulator, replaced hydraulic fluid, did the gearbox programming process, but the issue is still there (now Diagbox shows no error codes). Of course I've been thinking that the issue could be the clutch, but what makes me wonder is that once the gear is engaged, and the clutch released, it doesn't slip at all!
Another symptom to keep in mind is that the "time to release" get worse when the car is at working temperature, that means that it works faster when the car is cold.
There are no hydraulic fluid leaks, and no further errors, so before proceed to change the clutch I wanted to ask if there is anything I'm missing here. Maybe there is a way to test the clutch solenoid valve that operates the clutch, or maybe I need to connect the car to another power source to do the learning (Specially the clutch biting point) The car battery is 2 years old.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

You could try recalibrating the gearbox. There are various howto's around so have a look yourself but this is one method that I came across: http://c4owners.org/plugins/faq/faq.php?0.cat.2.217 Good luck
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Hi!, thanks for your reply! I've already done the entire "gearbox programming" with Diagbox, but the issue is still there...mickthemaverick wrote: 14 Jul 2025, 13:25 You could try recalibrating the gearbox. Re: EGS MCP6 Gearbox clutch release issue
Hi, I have exactly the same problem. The launches are fine, but between gear shifts the control unit doesn’t reduce the throttle, it revs up to high RPMs and I have to wait a long time before it shifts into gear. It’s only really drivable in manual mode. The worst part is that the clutch kit is brand new, the transmission software is updated to the latest version, and it still does it.
Could you please advise me on how you solved your problem? I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks for your reply.
