Peugeot boxer 2.0 2018

Unread post by Campers »

Hello everyone

At the beginning of this year I've bought a Peugeot boxer 2.0 2018 with snapped timing.
I was planing to use it as a campervan base and because I never did anything like this before it seemed to be a good idea, as I was hoping I'll get away with only the rocker arms, camshafts and tapets. It was cheap and straight body.
It wasn't the case, the engine would not pass an cylinder leak test so I got a brand new one and moved ancillaries.
I have got a new oil cooler and some other bits new. Refurbished injectors. Turbo no play.

I've fitted all back together and it runs, but poorly. Smokes like mad but no lights coming on.

If I unplug the map sensor, it doesn't smokes as bad but engine obviously comes on.
If I unplug the maf it makes no difference.

But what I've noticed is that even with maf unplugged, I still get a reading on the diagnostic tool for it.
The following picture is with both of them off.

It has a blanking plate over egr that was on the old engine so I obviously moved it to the new engine.

Before my missus kicks me out cause of throwing so much money at this and still can't enjoy it and begin the actual conversion, does anyone has any ideas what I could do or try?

I just can't figure it out how it can still give a reading of maf with plug out? Is there any chance I could've mixed it with some other plug, or they fool proof?

Thank you.

As you have spent the money to buy a brand new engine I would reinstigate the EGR and it associated parts as the engine was designed to run. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I fully agree. Would've been better as factory.

But this is what I've got at the minute and I'm trying to figure it out what's happening.

I did thought about removing plate, but because I guess the ecu is coded without it, I don't want to mess it worse.
As long as was running fine before with this map and plate, It seemed a good ideea not to interfere for now.

Probably that's what I'll try next if no ideas or help found. :(

Took the plate of egr yesterday and even less diesel knock and even less black smoke, and that's only when letting throttle go.

Does it needs a remap I'm thinking?
