XM Hydraulic Regulater 12mm union spacer

Unread post by Nickab »

ImageHi, I've just had the hydraulic regulator changed on 1998 2lt petrol XM .
While changing the regulator and sending it to be refurbished the metal spacer has been lost, it goes into the regulator before the 12mm union, the regulator and union has a fine thread and uses a spacer unlike the course threaded regulators.
Does anyone know where I can get another spacer and have any experience with fitting fine threaded regulators?
Thank you

No, the spacer I'm referring to inserts into the female fine threaded part of the regulator which the 12mm pipe union is screwed into, it's a small section of tube which the LHM pipe butt's upto inside the regulator.
The 1998 regulator has a course threaded union on the 9mm and fine threaded on the 12mm union and needs a tube like spacer Inserted

This is a rubber hose, not a spacer, the same as with other hydrauliek pipes on the XM, only thicker.

Here are the Citroen part numbers for the rubber seal sleeves in various sizes:
26 126 179 HYDRAULIC PIPE LINING 6,8X11,8X9,5

96 085 783 HYDRAULIC PIPE LINING TUBE 6,35

96 085 784 HYDRAULIC PIPE LINING TUBE 4,5

96 085 785 FLEXIBLE LINING TUBE 3,5
I believe that the 2 sizes used on the regulator are 4.5 and 6.35.

Thanks for the response, the mechanic who removed the regulator is a experienced citroen mechanic, I spoke to him today and says he removed a small coned shaped metal spacer from the female part where the 12mm union locates.
He has never seen a fine threaded union before or the spacer.
We understand that they were only used on the later Xantia's and XM's.
The ditance from end of the hydraulic pipe to its compression olive is shorter than the normal course thread pipes, I hope this makes sense, thanks

It appears that there is such a thing, as indicated here (in relation to the Xantia):

In fact there's only three right across the Xantia range as I understand it..

The 'sinker' with the additional FDV feed; the coarse thread one that has a rubber seal on the pump pipe fitted to earlyish MK1s and the fine thread one that has the metal cone seal on the pump pipe on late MK1s and MK2s.
