Might that be the Duxford Comet Richard?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Yes. Today was a flying day, sort of mini-mini airshow with about a dozen aircraft flying, members get in free But it was a bit special because this year is the 80th anniversary of the Chipmunk trainer. People had flown in from all over, one taking 11 days. So we had 3 display pilots from the Portuguese navy, 20 parked on the apron, and a fly past of 18. So that made 21 in the air and 40 in total. Not something you see every day.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I'm still having fun playing with long-expired colour photographic film and recently moved into the world of 'experimental' films...
The opening of the developing tank after processing is always a lottery and can range from a jackpot to a total loss..
Here's one of my prize paeonies from an experimental film very much known for its unique rendition of colours...
The paeony flowers are in reality a very deep red, tending to purple... The image is a raw scan direct from the negative with no post-processing except reversal to positive.
Not everybody's cup of tea but I love it

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Load of school kids from the school a few hundred yards up the street out picking litter.
Not usually much on the streets but the parks are a mess, the closer to the shopping centre and Greggs, McD's, Starbucks and the other usual suspects it is deplorable.
Was bin day yesterday and windy with it so this is mostly blown out of overfilled bins.
There is a girl of around 18~20 ish goes around very enthusiastically litter picking, was dresses as an elf around Christmas time.
Shame the trees get in the way.

Any Neil Young fans recognise the fence?
Part of a series of paintings of urban streetscapes of locations with a backstory, some notorious or of historic significance by Nardi Price on show at the Queens Hall Hexham. Like the pattern of the "sets" on this one and the glorious mundanity of it all.

Indeed, perhaps his best album.
Wouldn't have if you hadn't mentioned it though.

It was Great to see this Spotted Woodpecker on our seed feeder yesterday. It was taking advantage of a lull in tree-rat activity on the feeder
There's one incoming on the fence in the background. We have deployed an effective deterrent now though. Apparently grease and chilli powder is good. Apparently

I'm not entirely sure......
....and I could easily be wrong....
....but I don't think petrol should look like this
I was investigating the rough running of a generator and found the petrol was like this - despite it being fresh a couple of months ago. The actual problem probably had more to do with the pinhole in the carb float though !

Floats not floating properly won't help though...
In your 'tree rat' photo above I see you have a rather fine paeony
Shame their flowers have such a short life and when at their best it's always dull and rainy... I was hoping to catch this one in nice bright, warm sun but alas...

That'd make your eye water if you pee'd that, Jim
Whilst the colour might look suspicious, the vapours coming off of it weren't ! It was definitely petrol, just with added contaminants.

Is that a robot mower Vic? and if so does it park itself in there yet?

yep, it parks itself in the charging station perfectly every time & then trundles back to where it left off.mickthemaverick wrote: 20 May 2026, 12:13 Is that a robot mower Vic? and if so does it park itself in there yet?![]()
It's a Mammotion LUBA mini 2 AWD 1000 .
Only had it a few days & still getting to grips with operating it as lots of things to programme.
It's got satellite, wifi & 4G postioning plus an AI tri camera & seems to know where it is.
No perimeter wires etc, just manually drive it around using phone with app & Bob's yer uncle.
It's obstacle avoidance is remarkable. Yesterday Mme , who's used to her robo vacc, set it up & it cut this bit of lawn avoiding everything without need to programme obstacles.
So far really chuffed with it.
