Unread post by gango67 »

Hi all
Hopefully someone can assist.
Cat came up with ESP and ASR fault message was originally driving fine for a couple of km then went into limp mode pulled over and put the code reader on it it came up with
C1391 and U1208 errors in the esp module and had P0268 code stored in engine ECU relating to injector 3 also in BSI was B1811 96 fault any advice on where to look for fixes
Many thanks

There is a conflict in engine size between your profile and your post. Which engine is it and what year is the car? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Something to read with one reply saying U1208 and C1391 was caused by a fuel leak onto the cam shaft sensor. viewtopic.php?t=88010

Although looking into that it seems the camshaft position sensor is near the front on mine nowhere near fuel lines

Maybe fuel on the connector could just mean for you the connector needs to be checked for good condition/clean contacts so something easy to do.

Will check the connector tomorrow thought the sensor would be on the back near the fuel pump and injectors so that made sense but according to the wsm it's low down on the front of the block

Low down on the end of the block near the left side of the crank pulley sounds more like the crank shaft position sensor.
The cam shaft sensor should be at the front top of the engine at the left end as you look at it and hidden a bit behind the air doser left hose.

Thanks yes that's what I was refering to on the wsm given its location and away from any fuel lines I would suspect it's unlikely to be the cause in my case

Is it likely that the ESP faults would be caused by a faulty injector or would it be more plausible that the injector fault is caused by the ESP faults ? Thanks hope some people can assist in trying to diagnose

Yes, the ABS faults are coms faults; when the engine ECU sets the fault code, it interrupts the data flow to the ABS ECU which causes the faults to be recorded there. Fix the injector (a common problem on DV6C engines) and the ABS light should clear. Note that injectors are numbered from the flywheel end.

Thanks Richard will try and test the injector resistance as I know it's been leaking around 3 and 4 I assume if it goes from right to left if you are standing in front of the engine do you have any idea what a bad injector resistance should be opposed to a good one as don't want to chuck £250 down the drain if injector is good

Also of note there is no abs light showing it just pops up on info screen esp and asr fault and disables esp function
