mrs wants basic ability to play tunes, so bought one of these bluetooth units dead cheap off alix
installed it no problem
phone will pick it up as "car kit", no probs there
existing RD4 only has "Aux2" on the Source button, it wont play through that as is.
so I then followed a youtube tutorial and using my diagbox to configure Aux1 to Present, all ok there
but it still wont work.
still just shows Aux2 only.
Any tips for where I am going wrong?
ps, this radio. I assume its RD4, if not please tell me but surely process is the same?

Can you clarify how you are physically connecting the kit to the car?

The supplied adapter goes between the loom in the car and the radio and uses a breakout to a Bluetooth receiver that would send it's signal to Aux1
no egr, no dpf, no problems.

You should check which pins the adapter is actually connecting to. At the factory, Aux 1 would connect to the RCA connectors in the glovebox.
