e-Berlingo electric or petrol driven?

Unread post by Tarquin »

Has anybody dived into the murky waters of e-Berlingo ownership?

I'm not driven by anything that distinguishes one from another like range, cost saving etc., I'll use it for business doing round trips of 12 miles several times a week dropping off parcels at Parcelforce and like the option of having 5 seats for general use.

I've been looking at outright purchase of either an e-Berlingo or petrol driven model. The nearly new prices differ widely and at first glance the electric driven used prices drop like a stone? The idea of going full electric - quiter, nippier - is clouding my decision and I wondered if anybody on here has faced the same dilemma?

Since your principal use for the Berlingo is for your business I would suggest you ignore all the driving related reasons and concentrate on the best financial option for your business. Hence compare capital outlay, depreciation, running costs and residual values to determine which is the better business proposition. :)

My question is French car related posted on a French car forum. If after 35 years of self employment I need business advice, I'll go to a business forum!

I may not have formulated my post very well but I'm seeking real life answers and a general overview from owners of electric e-Berlingo and standard petrol vehicles who may have purchased either and regret their decision.

For the record, the principal use is 2 fold with more domestic mileage than business. I have a Dispatch Van that is bigger than needed and a VW Polo that, with the seats down, is capable of carrying most but sometimes not all of the loads required. The Berlingo should bridge the gap without the need to keep switching vehicles.

My comments weren't intended as advice, just a general comment. However for advice at the moment I'd say don't buy Stellantis!! :-D

You didn't put in your first post that this related to France which would have been helpful.

No you didn't. Are you saying that this isn't for a vehicle in France? Some information for your location in your profile might have helped.

My profile on here has been fine since I joined in 2003.

Nothing about my opening post has any reference to France?

It wasn't until your first paragraph in your second post that I even thought that.

Petrol will be 1.2 Puretech - Google that and then run away! The electric version will have limited range, but if you can live with that and get one 'cheap' as someone else has already suffered the savage depreciation, and you can charge at home, it probably makes sense.
