Yesterday morning went to start the car but everything was dead !
Opened the drivers door and closed it and everything came back to life and the car started fine and drove just fine but the orange service light is staying on ?
Every time I start the car I get a single warning bleep and the service light comes on and stays on.
On the inbuilt diagnostic function it says no faults present or stored ?
Just one thing that may sound silly ,my impatient wife unlocked the car and climbed over the drivers seat into the passenger seat but I am totally sure this is pure coincidental.
Eolys all topped up at last service and new adblue tank fitted in 2022 along with injector and still around 5000 miles to go until next service .
Does anyone have any idea what maybe causing this ?
I have to say that this car has had a few brain farts in the past so just hoping this is another.

In view of that rather odd behaviour I'd try a BSI reset first, following the procedure in the link below and then see if the light still appears. If it does you'll need to run a diagnostic to see what is causing it.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I would also check the battery voltage, before the first start of the day a fully charged battery will be 12.7 volts but if below about 12.3 volts it needs charging up. If still the original battery at 10 years old it might be due for renewal.
You have not said which engine it has but if not already done, the timing belt will be due for replacement.

Re: 2016 C4 Picasso Grand Service Light ?
OK update on this.
The car started acting a little bizarrely so I was going to do the BSI reset procedure and unclipped the positive battery terminal whilst figuring out how to get to the neutral terminal.
Decided just to clip the positive back in place and low and behold the service light went out ( although I had to reset date and time of course ) but my euphoria was short lived and the car started playing up again.
When unlocking with the fob the power fold mirrors would not extend outwards and the indicators would flash and the car would unlock but I would get the message check the fog lamps ??? And although the sign saying to depress the clutch pedal would come up, when I pressed the stater button I would get zilch
So I decided to do the full BSI reset procedure and I have to say all is good in da hood and touch wood everything for now is back as it should be.
So thank you to @mickthemaverick for the suggestion and invaluable link saved me a few quid by not having to take this morning for a diagnostic test .
It is a 1.6 Diesel 2016 Grand Picasso.
The battery was replaced in 2023 ( Bosch start stop ) and a new timing belt + water pump fitted during the 2024 service.
Like I said this car has certainly had a few brain farts in its time ( I have owned it from new ) and this hopefully is just another.

Re: 2016 C4 Picasso Grand Service Light ?
OK six glorious days and Bang ! Same symptoms have returned.
Car unlocks using fob but wing mirrors do not unfold, when pressing start stop button nothing ?
This time even disconnecting the battery didn’t help.
Car decided after quite a few attempts to start but the single warning bleep sounded and the orange service light came on.
Stopped the car and again a pig to start but eventually did.
Have done the BIS reset again and all is good for now but there is definitely a problem here so have it booked in Weds afternoon for diagnostics.
A “check fog lamps” warning is also coming on ?
Anyone have any ideas whatsoever what this could be ?

Re: 2016 C4 Picasso Grand Service Light ?
Not good news.
It might be the BPGA - a unit that sits near the battery and does all sorts of things to "protect" it. When it fails - internal corrision - you get the symptoms you describe, notably the mirrors stay in and the tailgate won't lift (if its a powered one) and the starter button is dead. I had the check fog lights message as well once started, cleared by turning them on and off. Eventually all you can do is keep pressing the start button until it comes to life. twice, 10 times, 10 minutes-worth .... With the picasso you can't even release the electronic handbrake to push the car out of the way. Happened to me 2 years ago on Orkney, very fraught 600+ mile trip home including a ferry and an overnight stop
.
BSI reset gave (very) temporary relief and I took it off to a local independent for a new unit - magic fix but expensive. It is DIY-able but a lot of the cost is in the new part and I'm a bit past wrestling with cars these days. The local independent had a good technician who I knew and trusted - sadly he has left now so I go elsewhere - who told me it doesn't leave a permament fault code hence nothing on the service button press.
Many Peugeot and other similar Citroen models have the same unit so if you do a search including on this forum you will find plenty of information.
