Hi, does anyone know if the drums incorporate the wheel bearings, or am I able to simply remove the drum to get to the shoes and mechanism?
Will I need a hub puller?
Thanks

Bearings are in the drums, never had to use a puller to remove them. The hub nut and its cover need to be replaced each time.
Have a read through this topic onwards from about page 12 since it is very relevant to the Cactus rear brakes as they are the same and it also includes notes from when I have worked on our Cactus. viewtopic.php?t=86521&start=165

Is this one of those cases where, when you pull the brake drum off, the bearing falls to pieces?

No that that problem with C3 or Cactus drums since the bearings have not stuck to the axle stub.

Thanks for the help everyone. The drums came off fairly easily using the two screwdriver method of levers!! The whell bearings were intact, it was rthe handbrake self adjusting mechanism that had seized up.

Definitely drums, and I am surprsed as well. I hate replacing brake shoes, an hours job always takes all day!mickthemaverick wrote: 14 Apr 2026, 11:29 What year is the car?
