Hi All
I’m looking for some advice/ help.
Ok I’ve got a Peugeot Boxer 1.9 td which I’ve just fitted a new engine, we’ve just got back from Scotland after completing the Nc500. To be honest the camper did well for a 24 year. However it really did struggle up one or two extremely steep hills even in first gear and lots of clutch smell. So now we are back I’m looking at gettIng a bit more low end power/ torque. I just purchased a LDA updated pin and a pump spacer. Obviously I don’t want to break the land speed record just want it to be better off the mark without blowing the engine to bits. So I’m looking for advice from anyone who’s done the mod to a 1.9td or what else I might benefit from.

Did you find a solution to this?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: 1.9td diesel pump mod
Sorry for the late reply as we’ve been in Scotland, we’ll I took it to a recommended Bosch diesel company, apart from a bill for £700 and a load of spill of what they said they had done ie ; removed the diesel pump stripped it down and rebuilt it to Bosch specifications etc. except they hadn’t done this as I marked the pump bolts before taking it to them. All they had done was tweek the fuel mixture screw. So I decided to do what I should have done I the first place ( did it myself) i fitted the kit easy enough and then tweaked the LDA screw and the star wheel and the pump timing and mixture screw, and then finally increased the turbo boost slightly. A lot of trail and error and head scratching,And the result is spot on, a lot smoother ,better acceleration from the start , a lot more pull up hills, And most all flew through the mot on emissions. Well worth doing.

That sounds like a lot of money to pay for work that was not done by them! Do you have any recourse?Barney00731102012 wrote: 07 Apr 2026, 19:49 I took it to a recommended Bosch diesel company, apart from a bill for £700 and a load of spill of what they said they had done ie ; removed the diesel pump stripped it down and rebuilt it to Bosch specifications etc. except they hadn’t done this as I marked the pump bolts before taking it to them. In Australia, people, including me, would be talking to the government's consumer affairs department and getting a settlement, preferably a large amount of money.
Cheers,
Andrew

Re: 1.9td diesel pump mod
Yes I contacted the MD of the company and explained the pump hadn’t been removed as the retainer bolts had been removed. But he was adamant that it had. And the they had changed the timing belt also, by law here I had to give the company the chance to redo the work, which was never going to happen, if they couldn’t do it right the first time what chance was there going to be of them doing it right the second time. I’d rather right off the £700 than creating more problems before are long road trip of 3000 miles.

I think that's the law in my part of Australia, too. I can see the point of it,Barney00731102012 wrote: 09 Apr 2026, 20:31 Yes I contacted the MD of the company and explained the pump hadn’t been removed as the retainer bolts had been removed. but …
They rarely do!which was never going to happen, if they couldn’t do it right the first time what chance was there going to be of them doing it right the second time.
I still think that's a decent amount of money. Can't you at least flag it with a government authority but at the same time tell them that you have had to have the work done elsewhere (at this stage, they don't need to know that you did it) because you're going away? But you want to follow it up upon your return.I’d rather write-off the £700 than creating more problems before our long road trip of 3000 miles.
Anyway, it's your money. I just know that I couldn't give up that much money without a fight to a shonky business.
Cheers,
Andrew
