On January 17 2026, I bought a used 2021 Citroen C-Elysee 1.6 VTi automatic, VIN code: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] and engine number: 10KNAL0011097 with 77,792 kms, allegedly with full dealer service history, from the official Citroen importer in Angola, supposedly with a one year guarantee. It has since covered 6,000 kms. Just recently I noticed the gear changes had become clunkier and occasionally seemed reluctant to change up. Then a warning light briefly came on indicating that the gearbox required attention. I assumed that it might be because the gearbox was low on fluid. I quickly found out that this gearbox does not have a dip stick so to measure the level, a plug had to be removed from the gearbox and fluid added with the engine running until the fluid started to run out. I got underneath the car and discovered that two unions on what I imagine to be part of the ATF cooling system had been blanked off (see photo attached). The unions were dripping ATF fluid. I complained to the dealer and was told only the engine was covered under guarantee and that I would have to pay for any repairs to the gearbox, a case of caveat emptor.
I intend, therefore, to import all the parts I require to reinstate the cooling system but I do not know what might be missing and, more importantly, what fault may have prompted someone to make such modifications in the first place.
I would be grateful for any advice that could be given to me.

Re: Citroen C-Elysee 1.6 VTi, EAT6 transmission
I'm afraid I cannot offer any useful advice but just a thought as to what has happened. I suspect the gearbox cooling radiator developed a fault where water was getting into the oil or vice versa. Being a relatively expensive item to replace, my guess is that someone simply cut off the pipes to the cooler and blanked them supposedly to keep the ATF secure. If the car was only used on short runs in general it would possibly have been ok but since you have run it further the ATF has got hot, expanded the pipes around the blanks causing the leaks and the subsequent loss of the ATF has resulted in your gearchange difficulties. Hopefully one of the members will be able to show a picture of the system showing you what you will need to replace. Good luck
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Could anyone tell me if this is the fill plug for the gearbox, please? If so, what sort of tool is required to undo it?
