Broken 806 gear knob

Unread post by Vic Evans »

My old 2000 model Pug 806 gear knob has just literally fallen to bits in my hand.
There's what appears to be a plastic 'adapter' with two 'wings' fixed to the metal gear lever which is also broken.
I think this adapter screws off to be replaced with the new gear knob but I'm not 100% sure . Most youtube vids show this adapter left in place with new knob just pushed on.
Can anybody kindly confirm this adapter screws on/off as I need to replace this as well as the knob
This adapter seems to be sold with a few knobs so presumably reasonably obtainable.
Adapter like these https://www.ebay.fr/itm/137066448985?ch ... =view_item

This would appear to be the adapter Vic so maybe ask the seller how it fits onto the gearstick? :)

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

The co. I'm buying new'un from (Ebay -tuning -fanatics-shop) say " unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn't provide anything on this."
So far I've drawn a blank on t'internet but still looking. Found one vid but that showed a square gear stick whereas mine's round.
I'm beginning to think the adapter fits inside new knob & the whole thing pushes on over a possible serration on gear lever.
Think I'll wait until I receive new'un before totally destroying the old damaged one getting it off as I might, at push,be able to re-use this.
Still looking but running out of hope I'll find any info.

Done it. It was easy.
Pull off old knob, mine had already rotted & fallen off leaving bottom part fixed to gaiter.
Butcher off old broken adapter.
Unclip gaiter surround & lift off gaiter turning it inside out.
Cut off cable tie holding gaiter to knob
New adapter taps over gear stick which had 3 raised 'punch marks' to bite into it.
Fit new knob to gaiter which has been pulled 'inside out' with cable tie.
Pull gaiter right way around & push/tap new knob & gaiter over adapter.
Clip down gaiter surround.
Job done. Took all of 10 mins.
