Additive tank and software issues

Unread post by lewist001 »

Hi

I have recently had local garage fit a new Citroen additive tank (genuine Citroen part) but they say that the software update is not working so the tank will not function ,and needs to be coded or something.

I hope that this makes sense and if someone could kindly advise on this issue, and or what to do that would be great. :?

As you had the work done I'm assuming you are not mechanically minded, so I would take the car to a Citroen dealer and get them to code in the new tank and update the software if it is needed. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Indeed there is a software update when early cars such as yours (and mine!) for when a later tank with updated internals is fitted. I believe that the change is something to do with allowing any Adblue under pressure in the pipes to be returned to the tank. There is even an argument that original (still working) early tanks would benefit from this update.

As such, not updating shouldn't stop the Adblue from being injected. It doesn't have to be a Citroen dealer to do the job. If you have a Peugeot/Citroen specialist with access to the servers in France they should be able to do the job.

Many thanks for your reply :) .....isnt the AdBlue another thing that is separate to the Additive tank (Eolys or PATS fluid)?

Sorry, my mistake. I should've realised that the additive tank is the Eolys tank.

If the garage has fitted a new tank then I would expect that they also put Eolys (also known as PAT fluid) into the tank. Is there anything on your bill that indicates how much was put in? There isn't any software update that I'm aware of but you do need to "tell" the system that fluid has been put in and how much was put in. Diagbox is the goto really but a decent diagnostic machine can do this.
