C3 MK2 1.4 HDI wipers and lights goes randomly

My Citroën C3 Mk2 1.4 HDi 2012 has developed intermittent electrical issues. The main symptoms are the front headlights and wipers activating on their own, random error for pre tension system and the remote key working inconsistently.

I ran diagnostics with Lexia and initially saw random EGR faults along with CAN communication errors. I replaced the BCM, cleaned all earthing points, and checked connections to the ECU and BSI. After this, the issues disappeared for about couple of weeks (I drove 500 miles). The only remaining fault was an occasional EGR error when the engine is cold (likely due to a dirty EGR valve), but once warm, I turn off for 5 min and the error disappears.

However, the problem returned suddenly: the wipers and headlights started activating again, along with the service light. While the car still drives, once turned off it won’t restart, and multiple warnings appear (brake fault, key fault, service light, and engine fault).

If I disconnect the battery and leave it for a day, the car resets and starts normally with no warning lights. It then drives fine again — for example, I drove 30 minutes with no issues, stopped, restarted, and drove another 20 minutes without any problems.

However, on another day, after starting the car and driving for about 10 minutes, the issue returned: the wipers and headlights came on by themselves. I stopped and restarted the car, and although it started fine, the wipers and lights would not switch off.

I’ve attempted a BSI reset several times, but the process doesn’t complete properly, possibly due to the remote key working intermittently.

Based on all of the above, could the BSI be the root cause? Would it be advisable to have it repaired by a specialist?

Have you had the battery load tested? How old is it?

I had battery replaced in December. All good with voltages. I will get a bit more info from lexia related to charging voltage during driving.
I just ordered a battery charge status unit (used) to confirm it is nothing related to this.
