Fuel Gauge Faults

Unread post by Gambit »

Hi
yesterday the fuel gauge reading 2 marks down, I decided to top the tank up and put in 14.31 lt till it clicked off.
When I got back into the car to drive away the fuel tank gauge showed the same , not full..
Is this one of the funies that dictate you must put a minimum number of lts in for it to register or is something else amiss.
The miles to go on fuel in tank was consistant wit the gauge indication not a full tank.
Do I need to do a BSI reset

Are you referring to the C3 in your user panel or a different car? :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Unless you are going to do a 500 mile trip soon, I would leave it a bit after noting the mileage and see if the level sensor frees itself in case it got stuck temporarily. If after around 200 miles it has not gone up and then dropped lower than before filling up, then think about a level sensor fault.

Hi,

I had a similar fault on my Expert van a couple of years back

I managed to sort it using my Foxwell diag, following the menus which are based on the Diagbox system, it's under the BSI menu, special functions, pack repair, programming, forcing of the fuel gauge data.

Hope that is of some use.
