The sultanas are speared onto the trip part and then squished on so they're on there solid. The bu88ers have not only eaten this and other ones I've set, they've lifted the trip part so it definitely won't trip.

Peanut butter, the little blighters have to sit and lick it off not just lift a single piece.
I use bait stations they're good for the bigger rodents too.

I was at college with an amusing lad, he built model ships for Sunderland Museum.
He was driving through town and to impress his mates did his usual trick of making his Moggie backfire; turn off the ignition while still in gear causing a load of petrol vapour to fill the exhaust, then turn the ignition back on. It would scare the shoppers rigid but this time it was even more impressive as it had blown the exhaust to bits.

I had a Honda Accord and thought it a right old man's car, couldn't get out of it's own way.
Had a long drive one weekend and stuck behind someone doing 40, in the 60 parts and also in the 30 parts. After one of the thirty its there was a bit of clearish road and I took the chance to pass. Impressive, the car went ROOOOOAAAR and shot past the slow car. But carried on the rest of the way, 20-odd miles, and all the way home, 80 miles.
It too had blown a seam in the back box.
Fortunately a very easy fix, sixty quid and ten minutes to change it.

Mine wasn't as interesting unfortunately. I'd been having trouble hot starting for a while and when it did go the revs were sky high. On this occasion the car just wouldn't start, tried all the usuals, good spark, petrol was getting to carb. I floored the pedal thinking it was flooded. there were a few pops and bangs (down wid the kids innit) but then there was an unholy BANG and that was the result :? Luckily there was no other damage and a new back box sorted it out. The burst one was a new old stock one Kitch had fitted - hopefully he'll forgive me

I did find out the hot starting issue eventually - I'm new to these carbs (give me an SU any day) and I noticed the second choke on the Solex was sticking partially open causing the high revs but a bit of lube and manipulation had it slick again. Old Citroen eh

Gosh! That was done with some style and an interesting cause. Pleased you found it and fixed it.

I still love working on carbs. Two of my cars still have them. This one being one of them :)

This photo was taken on a roll of of old Truprint film that had exceeded its process before date by some 20 years and to the best of my knowledge had not enjoyed the best of storage. This was shot on one of several old films given to me by Mick.

It had lost about 4 stops of sensitivity over that time and had got distinctly grainy. Old film is quite difficult to handle as it gets stiff and very curly after being tightly wound in its canister for such a long time. This makes it quite tricky to load into the developing tank spiral.

The normally bright orange film base deteriorates to a dark muddy brown and reduces contrast.

Remarkably, colour balance was quite good. Straight out of the tank there was a slight magenta cast but that was easily corrected.

Here's another two...

So, the film is usable in a fun sort of a way and they look like they were taken using a cheap Instamatic camera - quite a nice vibe

Trying to make some sense of all the stuff on half a dozen hard drives, recovered from old computers and used as backup drives on and external caddy.
Found this from when my daughter and grandson were in Yellowstone, May 2008.
He is observing gophers from an underground lair.

Just call me Mr Lucky........ :-D

About 6 or so years ago I lost a key to a padlock at work which meant a short length of chain has been padlocked to a gate ever since then #-o

Scroll forward to today..... I'd been shifting a huge heap of well rotted manure to put on the flower beds.

....and what do I find speared onto the tine of the pitchfork as I load the next lot ??

I've bought a lottery ticket for tonight as I consider the finding of that key to be unreasonably lucky 8-)

Picture of the day, a curious object:

Clues:
Spoiler: show
probably could eat it, doubt it would be enjoyable in fact it's probably make you retch.
Spoiler: show
it's took several years to accumulate

inside a machine.
Spoiler: show
in fact in the tank inside a machine
Give up?
Spoiler: show
ah, for shame! :-D
Spoiler: show
it's actually an accumulation of dishwasher salt, that had crystallised inside to lid of the dishwasher's salt tank. It was actively preventing me getting said lid off to replenish the salt!

A couple of photos for today - the first one is of a rather fine Slow Worm that crossed my path. It wasn't moving that quickly as it was probably a bit cold.
I've put it in a spoiler as not everyone likes to look at such things 8-[

Heading to Oxford this morning I saw an early morning hot air balloon near Cane End. I also got to try out a new (to me) Nikon L830 digital camera.
