saying goodbye to my C5

So after 4C5's (And a c4) I am about to say goodbye to my 2006 C5 Exclusive. For the first time in 20-25 years I will be C5 less. I took it to the garage for new break pads and disks, and again they found it needed a new caliper and it was a quote of £1000 for it all. The car is on 178k miles and frankly it's beginning to get expensive. We had not long changed the spheres, which appear to be leaking. Poor job by a non Citroen garage. WE had a load of other work done on it to help it pass the MOT last time but this year I worry about spending a load more cash only for it to fail to pass. Also the engine has started playing up with sharp jolts on occasions. So bye bye I guess it is. I would have another C5 in a heartbeat, although there are none up here and they all appear to be south, but the other half wants a "smaller" car. We have another big car now. Totally gutted as I really cannot fault the car and what is brings to the table in terms of comfort. All these C5's have done us proud with long trips to southwest France from as far away as Unst in Shetland. All with no bother or drama. Gonna miss the C5.

got a caliper for 40 quid of ebay including bolts disk and pads of euro car parts 110 quid took to my local mechanic got charged 100 to fit all of it think 1000 pound is to much i choose a different mechanic or shop around

That's very sad if you're feeling you have to say goodbye to it - and I completely agree with you, they're a brilliant car. Very under-rated.
