Citroen C5 X7 Hi-Fi speaker upgrade question

Hi,

I have a Citroen C5 X7 with the factory Hi-Fi sound system, and I’m thinking about replacing the original door speakers.

The reason is that the spider on my current speakers has come unglued, so they don’t sound good anymore.

From what I found, the factory speakers are 165 mm (6.5"). My questions are:

Can I install any 4-ohm 165 mm car speakers with this Hi-Fi system?

Do I need to match the original impedance or power rating of the factory speakers?

Will aftermarket speakers work well with the factory Hi-Fi amplifier, or should I look for specific specs like higher sensitivity?

If anyone has upgraded the speakers in a C5 X7 Hi-Fi system, what speakers worked well for you?

As long as you match the impedance to your existing speakers and the wattage matches or exceeds your systems rated output then you should be fine. I replaced my MK1 C5's speakers with Pioneer ones and they were very good.

That system uses component speakers (seperate tweeter and woofer) so if replacing the woofer, make sure you replace it with only a woofer not a speaker that's two-way (i.e. one that incorporates a tweeter also) otherwise it will not sound good - you'll have too much top end and the sound stage will be messed up.
