3008 PHEV 2022 model year is it 4wd

Unread post by 3008ABuk »

Back in August 2025 I purchased a Peugeot 3008 PHEV Hybrid AWD or so i thought. It is the petrol 1.6 PHEV automatic. Fantastic car but recently developed a creaking noise audible at low speed from the front and felt through steering wheel. Garage couldn’t find anything so I started looking around. One online forum suggested sometimes the 4 wheel drive version can have issues with the rear driveshafts or electric motor. Not having had one of these before I bought it from an ex Peugeot dealer who sold it as the Hybrid 4 300bhp model. I had a look underneath yesterday at the rear and probably an obvious question but, should I be able to see the rear axle electric motor plus a driveshaft to each rear wheel? My head is telling me that’s what I should see but alas there is nothing. What does the rear drive set up look like from underneath? Is this a normal 2wd hybrid 225bhp model? If so it looks like been registered incorrectly when new and then I have an issue with where I bought it from.

Welcome along

I'd have thought that the gubbins under the rear in the 4WD version would be obvious, so if not there then it's not 4WD. Can you post up a pic underneath?

There may not be driveshafts if there are individual motors on each wheel but I would have thought those would be visible and obvious. Maybe jack up one side and remove a rear wheel to take a photograph?

Some pics added. Waiting for technician from where I bought it from, ex Peugeot dealer, to call me back by end of the week. When I look online it shows for hybrid 4 300 version a separate electric motor for rear axle. When combined with combined with front motor and engine it can give up to 300bhp in all wheel drive.

Update. Is booked in to the workshop at dealer I bought the car from next Thursday for them to inspect the car. From conversations they’ve said it is possible it came off the production line with wrong spec especially as it was the back end of Covid times and the knock on affect that had to vehicle production.

There are no obvious rear wheel electric motors apart from the electric handbrake.

Some people on here have access to the vehicle characteristics/build sheet so if you post your VIN it may be possible to look it up and see if it is listed with rear motors. Any Peugeot dealer would also be able to do this.
