Peugeot 308 1.6HDI 2013 RTEG2 replacement

Unread post by Danilov »

Hi all,
My unit lost satellite connection and my navigation is dead. I have had this problem since I bought it back in 2023. Now I found identical replacement unit matching all numbers but it needs VIN to be entered. From this forum I learnt that only Diagbox could do this but still hoping that some other third party tool could do it as I have no desire to pay £xxx to dealership. If anyone have tried or know anything please share. Thanks

Sadly we don't have any members in Northern Ireland on our diagnostic map unless someone reading this post can help.

I can't be sure but I strongly suspect that only a Diagbox could change the VIN as it's just such a PSA only requirement. If anyone knows for sure about a different diagnostic machine that can do this then please chip in.

Thanks Paul-R,
There are some £xx Diagbox + Lexia sets on EBay. Would they be good enough to enter VIN.

Well it seems rather cheap for a full chip VCI and they don't provide any photographs of the internal circuit board but they do claim that it's a full chip VCI.

As your vehicle is 2013 I wouldn't install V9.91 software. In fact I wouldn't go much past 7.57. I have 7.58 for my 2013 C5 X7 and 2015 308 II which has worked completely on the C5 and nearly everything on the 308. I was prepared to go to 7.62 if needed but as the only thing 7.58 wouldn't do for me was to add another key to the 308 (it had worked to add an extra key to the C5) I didn't bother.

Don't forget you'll ned a suitable laptop or pad as well. Windows 7 32 bit installed. Possibly Win 10 32 bit as well but I don't know for sure.

Today I pull out my unit and plugged the “ new” one. 7-8 satellites came in a few seconds and map on screen showed my actual position. Unit started beeping apparently complaining about VIN. Went to the the garage nearby and the mechanic plugged his Autel, took a few minutes and the saga finally ended. Very happy. Now needs back up and maps update as this one inside is pre 2012-13. It’s good to know that non Peugeot tool worked fine in my case.

Thanks. Can you find out which Autel diagnostic machine was used? Autel do quite a wide range and if it's only one of their £6k machines then that's less helpful to the hobbyist than a (much) cheaper one.

Hi Paul,
I did not ask specifics about that particular tool but was told that subscription for a year is around £500-600 so it is expensive. By the way Launch 431 did not work.I only paid £10 for the VIN.

Hi all, after sorting out VIN into my replacement unit I am looking for newer maps as this unit is from 2013 and the maps are even older I guess. Could anyone help. Thanks
