Ds7 crossback tyre
Getting my ds7 crossback 1.6 puretech on Wednesday. My son was checking out the car mot online via numberplate FG21WBX, it had failed the last test in Nov as it says ply or cord exposed, cut to centre of tyre, category dangerous. There is a new tyre on it now. Does that sound like it has ran over something or a problem with the car itself to you? I imagine I probably wouldn't get a straight reason from the dealer. It felt great on the road test, nothing was disclosed about it as they perhaps don't know. It has done about 700 miles since. Any thoughts?

Are you sure you have the right number plate ? That number, copy and pasted, into the MOT check site brought up a 2 wheel silver BMW! Something amiss there!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Re: Ds7 crossback tyre
Having seen that there was an advisory for a very worn tyre on the previous year's pass, I would suggest that the owner ran the tyres down very low before replacing so the cut was a likely result of a very worn tyre coming across a sharp object which penetrated to produce the cut. Hence I don't think it is anything to worry about but to remind you to be sensible about the tyre wear.

True mickthemaverick, I'm probably overthinking things too, a bit apprehensive and reading too many posts about suspension faults, wearing tyres and jittery rides. Only driving it myself for 1/2 hr, fear I may have been a bit rash. However it's a stunning car, everything works, 33,000 on the clock, all the tyres I checked looked recent esp the mot replaced one which was the same summer rated but different brand from the rest. Your take on it makes sense.. Thanks.

Re: Ds7 crossback tyre
On the previous MOT a front tyre was worn with an advisory, it might have then been moved to the back where it then wore down and had to be replaced at the last MOT. Likely a cheap tyre was then put on with the car being sold by the previous owner. You might want to fit tyres of the same type later.
MOT testers can be a bit over the top on tyre wear. Our 308 had advisories on the front ones yet the tread was 3mm. I did replace them later in the year though when they were down to 2mm.

IT might be a problem with tracking. There is plenty posts about wrong tracking settings in ds7. Worth to check it.

I'm hoping not Djandree, I will keep checking the tyres (when I get it) and get the dealer straight on it under warranty if it looks wrong.
