Hello everyone,

I'm hoping to get some advice on an engine swap for my car. Unfortunately, I no longer have access to the original engine, but I really want to get it back on the road.

My Car:

Model: Citroen C4 2013

Current Engine: 1.6 e-HDI (9HD / DV6C)

Gearbox: 6-speed automatic

VIN: VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Engine Number: 10JBFU3002650

My question is about finding a replacement engine. I know the DV6C family includes other engines like the 9HC and 9HR .

Based on what I've read, these engines share the same 1.6 HDi block and DV6C architecture. My main question is about the electronic compatibility:

Will a 9HC or 9HR engine bolt up to my existing 6-speed automatic gearbox without mechanical issues?

More importantly, what is involved in getting the engine management system to work? I assume my car's ECU is specifically mapped for the 9HD. Would I need to:

Get my existing ECU remapped?

Use the ECU that comes with the donor 9HC/9HR engine?

Is this something a specialist can handle, or are the wiring looms too different?

I've seen that some components like alternators and starters can vary between these engine codes.

Has anyone successfully done a swap like this? Any guidance on whether a 9HC or 9HR is a viable replacement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Tamsky and :welc:

Unfortunately I have no useful knowledge about your project but I am sure there are members who will be able to offer their thoughts. Good luck :)
