I'm posting this for anyone else with a recent C4 or car with similar software who might see the same thing.
(Mods, put this in audio and telematics if you wish, but it strikes me it doesn't fit easily there becsue its the main speedometer display not the sat nav stuff)
I have had issues in the past with the speedometer display just 'going off' for 30 seconds then rebooting but its been stable for a few months so I assume a software update solved it.
Today I had a new surprise. Local trip, about 5 miles, all fine. Parked for 20 minutes, came back to car and set off home. Cheery message on central screen all about new feactures in voice assistance, I guess sent by some over the air messaging. After a bit I thought hang about, doesn't feel like I'm doing 80 in the 50 limit, oh, and I'm sure my distance to empty isn't 600 miles, its only a bit over half full. The I realised it had, all by itself and at the same time as the message appeared re-set everything to Km not Miles. GRRRRRRR.
So got home, found the setting via the menu then set it back. But I have 3 'profiles' for 3 drivers, they had all been changed so I reset them all. Then I found that the privacy settings (location, so you can use the connected features) had been messed with as well. I checked the main system version number and nothing had changed.
All is well, but I am rapidly losing confidence in the way Citroen push out updates with random unintended consequences: as it happens resetting was tedious but easy once parked, but had I just hit the brakes to bring my speed down to indicated 50 there might have been consequences. Am I allowed to say GRRRRRRR. again?
