Code Setting Criteria, Renault Master

Unread post by Nelix »

Hi All

I'll dive straight in.

I have a 2005, 2.5, 120 Dci, Renault Master that has an intermittent start/idle issue. it was purchased with a known issue that it would not idle however when we went to look at it we did manage to get it to idle without issue after attempting to start it several times. It ran solid and smooth.
I ran fine for a day and ran around the doors without issue, the next morning it wouldn't start.

We found that it would start if you maintained revs around 1500-2000 rpm but as doon as it dropped below that it would stall.

We have carried out a leak off test and all is fine, it actually ran fine with the return lines removed so we replaced the return lines, We replaced the fuel filter too. we also replaced the priming bulb as this is apparently a cause of similar behaviour from some research that was done. the Fuel pressure regulator has been replaced and also the Fuel pressure sensor.

After carrying out the above work it ran/idled up to temp fine, the next morning wouldn't start again. there were also occasions were it would idle for 2-3 mins and then just die as if someone flicked a kill switch.

Each time it stalls we get Injector Circuit fault codes, sometimes just the one injector, sometimes 2 or 3 and occasionally all 4 depending on how many times we try to start it. clear the codes and they come back.

We then took the injectors out and had them tested and they are all within tolerance.

As mentioned we don't always get ALL code, sometimes its a mix. Fault codes are as follows:

182E - Cylinder 1 injector circuit
182F - Cylinder 2 injector circuit
1830 - Cylinder 3 injector circuit
1830 - Cylinder 4 injector circuit

My question is what are the Set Code Criteria for these codes? I have tried to research and the only reference I can find relates to 'Current below threshold' of similar wording.

Would anyone have a little more info on the Set Code Criteria? what criteria needs to be met in order to trigger/set the code?

I'll be checking wiring from Injector to ECU at the weekend, it is all checks out then the ECU will most likely be getting sent away for testing/repair.

Thanks

Since all the codes relate to faulty injector wiring I would suggest that the problem will lie in the loom from the ECU to the injectors. I suspect a corroded plug type problem to be found and resolved. :)
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

That's what I'm suspecting/hoping but was just after a nit more information as to the set criteria
