Megane 1.6CC Bournemouth specialist

Unread post by Filberton »

Hi, my daughter’s Megane1.6 CC 2012 ( steel folding roof) has decided to start leaking and form a puddle in the car. I think it is a seal either on the boot lid or in the last fold above the rear window. (The puddle forms behind the driver’s seat but I don’t think it is a rear window or door seal) Are these seals still available (and if so where from ). The main dealer says no and they will not even look at the car (too old for them) and my local “Go to” guy does not do folding roofs.
Does anyone know of a specialist/indie in the Bournemouth area who might look and confirm where the leak is coming from and suggest any solution (or get and fit a new seal)

Thanks

Mike

Wow, quick reply and much appreciated. They are close to her and sound like a good bunch so she will pop round for a chat. 👍😁😁

In mine meggy problem was a seal. I did clean it and then put a gummi pflege sealant lubricant. Roof stopped squeaking and been waterproof again)

Many thanks for that 👍 we tried similar but used vasaline and it sort of worked, for a while but being on the south coast my daughter likes the roof down so it kept rubbing off (vasaline as it doesn’t mark clothes). Forge Motors have been very helpful and seals may be available but possibly not uk,(but that doesn’t matter) they are awaiting confirmation and delivery. All second hand seem flat and damaged so We’ll see what Forge come up with. (Not sure if the old trick of inserting paracord might work but that means stripping out the seals so we’ll hang on.

Thanks for the ideas 👍

If you go with paracord it will only be natural to hang on! :sulk: :-D
