307SW 1.6 Hdi 2008 Front Brake Caliper Identification

Unread post by Davre1 »

Is there an easy way to identify if my 2008 307SW Hdi has Bosch or Lucas/TRW front brake calipers?

Not sure yet if I need new calipers or just a service kit for the glide pins, front offside brake binds and only the fixed pad shows signs of excessive wear.

With Thanks

I have just looked through a vast array of calipers and not been able to answer your question. None of the bosch ones I saw matched yours but I did find some matching without their maker clear. I think this is for the other side to the one you pictured but maybe if you contact them they may be able to answer your question!! :) https://www.megaparts.eu/en/product/315465838

Thanks Mick, I agree that certainly looks identical albeit for the nearside 👍
Would Service Box give a definitive answer? I struggled initially to find the correct rear calipers until I realised that the original ones were actually from a 308 SW.

Unlikely just the part numbers, I'll have a look in the morning on my Servicebox backup which only goes to 2012. No access tonight!! :)

Probably it just needs a clean so the pads are free to slide and some copper grease on sliding parts. If the piston was seized in the caliper the pad on the piston would likely also be worn.

I think this is the parts diagram for your front brakes: :)

Thanks Paul I was wondering if that might be the case, I will try cleaning along with copper grease and then monitor pad wear.

Many thanks for that Mick, I can see now that the nearside caliper is clearly stamped 'Bosch' maybe the offside caliper has been replaced with an OEM equivalent at some point.

I thoroughly encourage a bit of silliness....
Spoiler: show

:rofl2:

I thought the calipers were likely Bosch, but was put off as there wasn't the big obvious embossed word "BOSCH" as described on the other caliper!
Glad you've sussed it
