C3 Picasso 2015 1.6 Diesel HdiBlu Warning Particle Filter risk of clogging

Hi guys, any advise on how to handle this.? My warning lights turned on indicating “Particle filter is at risk of clogging) Doing short trips most of the time like 12-15mins drive going to work.. car mileage is around 118miles now… thanks!

Is it on continuously? You will need to scan it, but it's likely it has reached the predetermined 'life'. Usually if the pressures are OK and regens not too frequent you can just tell it that it's been replaced and it will go away happy.

My HDi C5 used to do this occasionally. Not 'blu' though. If the warning light is the only symptom it could be that the exhaust system hasn't got hot enough to trigger a regeneration. Even with your 12-15 mins drive, from a cold start and with winter weather and condensation in the exhaust it might not function as it should. It would be worth a longer trip to get the system 'properlly hot' for half an hour or so, make it work hard - not just tootling along the A120 at 50 mph in top gear. it might clear the warning next time you start. Worked for me with the C5, and nothing lost apart from a bit of time and fuel, if it doesn't help then you can go the route that Richard W suggests.

Hi Richard. Thanks for your response, anyway not it’s not continuous, after i put some redex dpf cleaner and run it on a motorway on a 50-60mph for around 10mins the warning comes off…today went to drive fo work it came up again when im pushing to 4th gear… then try to run it again to the motorway after work then it comes off again… any thoughts whats going on?

Hi there richard_c… appreciate your inputs.. your right need to spend a little bit time and fuel money once a week just to have a proper proper cycle, heard this from another diesel engine user. Planning to get a round trip from Braintree to Takeley on a weekly basis via A120.. hope this would be enough to make the system warmed up. All this is new to me as im a 1st time diesel car owner, been with a petrol car since i started driving…your inputs are very helpful, thanks again

It really needs a diagnostic session to find out what's going on. Euro 6 cars are much more sensitive to DPF problems than earlier cars - it may well need an off car clean to get rid of ash residue to keep the pressure down

Thanks RichardW! Sounds like a good plan, i’ll have the car under go diagnostic to be more direct on the issue. Just now i did a run on a motorway for about 20mins on 50-60mph…and the warning lights went on and went off again after a while…im considering selling the car already haha it’s stressing me out.. its a learning curve for me driving a diesel car.
