I own a Citroën C4 that I purchased at the beginning of 2016. According to my understanding—and as outlined in the owner’s manual—the car should support MirrorScreen, allowing the use of CarPlay and offering the DAB option for the radio. My understanding is that these features need to be enabled by a Citroën dealer.
However, both in Germany (where I previously lived) and now in Spain, I haven’t found a dealer willing or able to activate these features. Typically, I’m told that either it cannot be done or my vehicle isn’t compatible, often without anyone even checking the vehicle or its software version.
Currently, the SMEG software version installed is 6.1.D.R8.
I have a few follow-up questions and would appreciate any insight or experiences you can share:
- How can I update my SMEG software version to a more recent one (at least R20)? Where can I find the update file to install it via USB? Is performing this update worthwhile or recommended??
- Is it possible to activate MirrorScreen/CarPlay and DAB myself? I’ve seen some UK stores offering cables and software purportedly for enabling MirrorLink. Has anyone used these products? Are there specific software version requirements I should be aware of before purchasing anything?
