2016 ds4 1.6 bluehdi Cutting out with multiple dtcs

Unread post by Nabeel »

Hi all,

I am really hoping for a reply as im completely stuck at the moment.

I have a 2016 Ds4 1.6 bluehdi driven 75k miles. I was going down the motorway and was hit with multiple lights on the dash before cutting out.

The car threw:
Engine fault: Stop the vehicle
Parking break fault: Have the vehicle repaired
ABS fault: Have the vehicle repaired
ESC/ERS fault
Anti roll fault

After about 5 mins on the hardshoulder when i restarted the car all lights disappeared and was able to return home as normal after driving 100 miles. That same night i went into the car and upon starting all light came back on and now dont disappear. The car only drives a few metres and then cuts out and i am able to turn the car off and back on again to drive again.

Local mechanic plugged in his machine and has these faults currently:

P0118:00 Intermittent: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) - Component voltage too high

U1113:87 Intermittent: Fault in communication with ABS or ESP ECU - No communication

U0121:87 Intermittent: Fault in communication with ABS or ESP ECU- No communication

U0140:87 Intermittent: Communication fault with the Built-in Systems Interface (BSI) - No communication
P1349:00 Intermittent: Pre/post heating control unit - Control circuit open

P1632:47 Permanent: Engine ECU - Internal fault

P0001:00 Intermittent: High pressure fuel flow regulator control -Open circuit

P0520:11 Intermittent: Oil pressure - Component voltage too low

P0193:00 Intermittent: Fuel pressure in the high pressure fuel circuit - Component voltage too high

P2128:00 Intermittent: accelerator pedal Position (APP), signal 2 component voltage too high

P2455:00 Intermittent: Particle filter differential pressure - Component voltage too high

P0113:00 Intermittent: Intake Air Temperature (IAT) at the air flow sens Component voltage too high

P0123:00 Intermittent: Air metering position - Component voltage too high

P2565:00 Intermittent: Position of turbocharger - Component voltage too high

Fault 2 : ABS or ESP -ESP81

Because of the ecu permanent code he suggested to send the ecu off for testing and repair with ecutesting. They spent 2 weeks with ecu and said the ecu is completely fine and theres nothing stored and no faults on the ecu. The mechanic since then has teseted the battery if its weak, fuses and wiring in the engine bay, Alternator and the Gearbox earth strap. They all seem fine. It has been 2 months now and i seem to be getting no where. Any ideas of what the issue could be?

That's an almighty amount of DTCs. Did something get broken under the car? That's all I can think of. Also, from experience, one thing wrong can cause multiple errors. Also I've heard that the ABS sensor ring on the driveshaft can corrode and give lots of seemingly ridiculous error codes. Keep us posted please.

Thank you for replying that gives me some reassurance. Im not sure about anything broken under the car. I will ask my mechanic if he had checked underneath. Reading on forums it does point to the abs ring being some sort of the cause. When i put this foward to my mechanic previously hes certain that its more than a sensor and said that doesnt explain the ecu permanent fault codes. Hes fairly certain the breaking system fault is separate to engine cutting out/ecu fault. I will try the abs ring first as its quick and cheap and update accordingly.

If you've got: P1632:47 Permanent: Engine ECU - Internal fault

And it comes back after a clear, then it looks like the ECU is at fault, this appears to be a common problem. Where was it sent?

I sent it off to a company called ecu testing (https://www.ecutesting.com/common-fault ... -resolved/). They said no faults are showing on the bench and the ecu is passing all tests and check.

Right after 2 months without the car i have the car back fully running and driving with no faults. The suggestion of abs sensor ring was so correct. After replacing this for £30 all faults are gone and finally driving perfectly. The mechanic gave me the keys and said they are so confused how this worked  . Anyways thought ill post this if this ever helps anyone else.
