Apropos recent happenings...
'Dr. Google'
NEVER look up what might be ailing you on the Internet, using any search engine... Especially Wikipedia. I did and it made me feel distinctly unwell
If you must, the best source on the web is the NHS...
But don't. Best to speak to a professional...

The mind boggles at how gullible some people must be, just look at what you get for your money and tell me you'd buy this:

It does look rather improbable, but then there are many similar ones at similar prices.
If I had a job that was difficult with a mains driven grinder I might be tempted. It would only be used very infrequently anyway. It's a couple of years since I last used mine and then it was a saw blade on it to get in corners that the proper circular saw couldn't reach.

I'd like to add Modern Citroens in room 101. If it's not Airbag faults it's brake pedal faults, FFS.

It'll be fine - for just on small undemanding job before the magic smoke makes a bid for freedom!mickthemaverick wrote: 19 Sep 2025, 18:09 The mind boggles at how gullible some people must be, just look at what you get for your money and tell me you'd buy this:

You may find it's not full-size, despite the photo... A miniature one and no bigger than a Dremel possibly...
This looks like a Temu or Aliexpress special... Allegedly a few eBay'ers are buying up Chinese slop like this in bulk from those sites and then reselling at a markup...
As always, caveat emptor

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
I was tempted to buy one just for inspection until I read the return conditions:
Look at condition number 2, how would you know you needed to send it back?
Looking through the description more thoroughly I saw pics of a hand holding it which show it to be normal size. The 21V batteries are apparently compatible with Makita 21V batteries, I cannot find a Makita 21V battery, they seem to be 18V in general! However I did find loads of similarly priced 21V grinders mostly claiming to be Makita compatible. I think that is just a marketing ploy to implant a suggestion of quality in the buyer's mind!!
So I am tempted to start a crusade to get Ebay and Amazon etc to agree to test all products before allowing listing, or I could have a beer

Moronic drivers who go to full beam one car length too soon!!! I was coming back from Aylesbury this evening and got dazzled six times by idiots who turned on their full beams when I was a car length or so away. I was taught that you waited until the oncoming car had gone past you before going to full beams.

Rather than moronic drivers it might be they have the car set to auto dip the main beam and it puts it back to main beam too soon. Our Skoda can do this but I have it switched off.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
My C4 Max can do it, but it doesn't 'see' motorcycles, cars when you are in a right hand bend, most cars in front ... so about 60% reliable... so I turned it off. Fortunately its one of the things you can turn off and doesn't turn itself back on every time you start the engine.PaulC5 wrote: 22 Jan 2026, 21:02 Rather than moronic drivers it might be they have the car set to auto dip the main beam and it puts it back to main beam too soon. A note in general - if your car has 'automatic' headlights that are questionable, then if you've got a dash mounted load leveling adjustment for the headlights, set it all the time as if you've got a bit of a load in the car.

Re: Room 101 open for deposits.....
Please can I add car owner handbooks.
Not the proper old ones that used to be full of useful information that you might find handy on a trip away or read in the evening when you got a new to you car, but the modern no-handbook handbook. My C4 came without one, there was a slim service record booklet and a few other bits of paper in a sort of felt envelope, but no proper handbook. When I took delivery it was guesswork until I got home and had time to download one.
That was a performance. I was encouraged to dowmload an app, put my VIN in and get a dowmloaded handbook. I know you can get them from the Citroen website if you search and persevere but I naively though that by entering all the information I would get one that was specific to my car. But no, it was the same generic model one - pages of stuff on things I don't have and versions of radio and screen that are irrelevant. OK though, no way was I going to print it out, 290 pages, so I have a copy on my phone and one on my IPAD. Far less convenient than one in the glovebox.
But more - it doesn't have useful things you might need: notably a fuse listing or diagram like every other car I've ever owned had. A simple instruction - if a fuse fails contact your dealer. Now, dealers are few and far between and seem to have lead times of weeks for an appointment. So what happens if (say) the windcreen wiper fuse blows because of the blizzard I've just driven through combined with it being -10C and I'm in the Cairngorms and its late at night ...... in the olden days I would say "Ah, 20 amp fuse 8 in box B ....." Now I'd ring the dealer and wait for several days possibly freezing to death or drive on 'blind' and fall to ny death when I missed a 90 degree left hand bend.
Changing a fuse
All work must be carried out only by a
CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
The replacement of a fuse by a third party
could cause a serious malfunction of the
vehicle
I must give credit for some of the information though, if I hadn't read it I would never have known that ingesting tyre sealant was harmful
So - modern handbooks which don't really exist into room 101 please, along with the people who decided to treat customers as unpaid handbook collectors and patronise them as incompetents who can't fit a fuse and made the wholly wrong assumption that thy have an effective dealer / service network. Grrrrrrrrrrr.......
(as an aside, I've tried to find fuse listings for my 2025 C4 Hybrid, with no success. Any suggestions where to look?)
