remapping a 110bhp 1.6hdi

Unread post by nikeastwood »

hiya all, I just want some general advice on getting a 1.6hdi remapped

my main question is, if I have a stage 1 remap will the car use more or less fuel than stock when driven normally?

I do have other questions but lets get a general opinion of that one first, ideally from those of you who have actually had a remap on one of those engines.

thanks

interested in this also , there are tuning boxes you just plug in and have a choice of different maps to suit your needs or have the ecu reprogrammed .

also interested as i've driven two cars with this engine (9HR)- a peugeot 307sw and my citroen c4. the peugeot had significantly more accelration to it which made me think it had been tuned. (similar mpg tho). a sooty exhaust pipe also suggests a dpf delete.

a word of warning - the above peugeot recently had to be scrapped due to engine failure at ~130k

it seems nobody wants to share an opinion

the remap place I use tells me its a popular engine for a remap and responds well

but I want to hear from people that have had it done

if you have, but dont want to leave a comment here, please PM me.

I think it more likely that no-one has actually had their vehicle remapped rather than wishing to remain anonymous.

We've had 4 Citroens with a 1.6 hdi and never once thought they needed a remap, all have performed more than adequately and each later one had improved mpg. Our last C4 would give up to 70 mpg on motorway runs to the Lake District at motorway speed limits.

not many people seem to get near the official figures with the later 1.6hdis according to honest john
i'm getting about 53mpg overall with my pre-adblue C4GP, although it has reduced slightlyrecenly due to more frequent dpf regens..
